BioBarCamp

SciBarCamp Palo Alto, July 8-9, 2009

I'm pleased to announce to we are in the planning stages for a SciBarCamp (July 8-9, 2009) in Palo Alto!

Thanks to Attila Csordas, who was the instigator of BioBarCamp which took place before last years SciFoo, we've decided to carry on this tradition that he started.  I'm also happy to pass on the news that Attila will be planning another BioBarCamp event later on this year.

Special thanks goes out to Attila Csordas and John Cumbers who were the main instigators that made this event happen.

BioBarCamp August 6/7

BioBarCamp in Palo Alto next month is now officially full!  With 75 available slots any new sign ups will be going onto a waiting list.

Held at the Instituue for the Future, this camp looks to be shaping up to be an interesting event.  This BarCamp will be slanted towards towards Biologists (hence its name) but I think that we will still find a lot of common ground to discuss.

Some links for those looking for more information about the event:

SciBarCamp Review

Jim Thomas, an attendee of the first SciBarCamp, has written an excellant review for The British Association for the Advancement of Science (The BA).

In related news, there will be a BioBarCamp held in Palo Alto this August which I'm planning on attending.
