Test from Windows Live Writer (WLW)

This is a quick test from a new beta tool from Microsoft for editing blogs.

Setup was fairly easy to use with Drupal.  I found a good set of instructions here.

The interface and usability of WLW is quick slick for a beta.  Links are easy to insert, pictures are also easy:

Random picture from my computer (Erasmus Bridge, Rotterdam NL).

Another really cool feature is the ability to add maps to a post.

Quick map of my house... I hope that they improve the pushpin graphic!!

Ok ... this is a true beta.  When I try to publish I get a server error.  On my Drupal content manager I get blank content (i.e. not blog entry, page etc...)...  Fixed... For Drupal you need to be pointing to ../blog/1 when I added the "/1" it did not save it, had to delete the account and create a new one.  Also I've noticed that the spacing in the WLW editor seems to be different when posted, likely Drupal interprets"<p>&nbsp;</p>" differently.

One more cool feature, you can open an existing blog entry from the server, edit it and repost it.  Not a big Microsoft fan but this tool is already quite good even at the beta stage.
