Both Jamie and I have been turned onto the Vibrant Ink theme for editing. This theme was originally designed for Textmate, but has been ported to other editors and IDEs. The two that we are using are:

• John Lam's version for Visual Studio
• A modification of this theme for RadRails in Eclipse.

I've also made a very basic version for the Perl EPIC plugin.

The big gotcha for me in Visual Studio was that with the black background, suddenly the text select cursor (the "I-bar") was not visible (it was black on black). To fix this, go to Control Panels -> Mouse, click the "Pointers" tab, and change the Scheme from "Windows Standard" (which has a white cursor icon and a black Text Select)

to the "Windows Black" scheme.

The black scheme kindly puts a white border around the cursor and I-bar so that you can see it on a black background.
